This is my best work to date using 3D and Photoshop. The model came from my previous concept art of Chappie and tweaked it a bit adding more detail to the model. This took me a day to model and 3 weeks to create a decent scene. The image below is the original model i made way back 2015 when i was just starting to learn Zbrush and kitbashing. I learned compositing for about a week through self study and i was excited to apply what i've learned, so i grabbed my Chappie Custom model and created a new scene and concept art for it. One of the techniques that i learned while studying is the use of depth passes and fortunately Keyshot 6 does it with ease.
Like my previous art entitled The Raiders, i did multiple passes of mettalic, paint/color, roughness, reflection and matte for the base color. I combined them together using Photoshop and started the coloring process. The background is from the Overwatch artwork which i did last 2016. So basically all of my artworks are connected and some of the assets are recycled from previous concepts. It took me 3 weeks to finish this scene though i didn't spend the whole day working on it but i took the time coloring all the details. Choosing the right color scheme took most of my time and finally i decided to go for an old metallic look instead of a shiny, cleaner look.
I was happy about it and decided to add more rust textures and battle scarred metal textures. I also added some high-flying embers to add some war ambiance to the scene. I'm pretty satisfied with the result though it's not the best out there but for me it's a great achievement to be able to create something that is decent looking and i dreamed about when i was just a kid who plays video games. Feel free to ask me any questions and give suggestions/feedback on my work. Have a great day.
