Sci-fi Soldier
Sci-Fi Soldier

This is my best work to date using 3D and Photoshop. The model came from my previous concept art of Chappie and tweaked it a bit adding more detail to the model. This took me a day to model and 3 weeks to create a decent scene. The image below is the original model i made way back 2015 when i was just starting to learn Zbrush and kitbashing. I learned compositing for about a week through self study and i was excited to apply what i've learned, so i grabbed my Chappie Custom model and created a new scene and concept art for it. One of the techniques that i learned while studying is the use of depth passes and fortunately Keyshot 6 does it with ease.

Like my previous art entitled The Raiders, i did multiple passes of mettalic, paint/color, roughness, reflection and matte for the base color. I combined them together using Photoshop and started the coloring process. The background is from the Overwatch artwork which i did last 2016. So basically all of my artworks are connected and some of the assets are recycled from previous concepts. It took me 3 weeks to finish this scene though i didn't spend the whole day working on it but i took the time coloring all the details. Choosing the right color scheme took most of my time and finally i decided to go for an old metallic look instead of a shiny, cleaner look.

I was happy about it and decided to add more rust textures and battle scarred metal textures. I also added some high-flying embers to add some war ambiance to the scene. I'm pretty satisfied with the result though it's not the best out there but for me it's a great achievement to be able to create something that is decent looking and i dreamed about when i was just a kid who plays video games. Feel free to ask me any questions and give suggestions/feedback on my work. Have a great day.

Raiding Party : A Matte Painting tutorial using 3D assets.

The Raiding Party

One of my latest concept art using 3D models and 2D images put into one. It took some time for me to create another concept art because i was too busy with life outside of work. Took me weeks just searching for a good image to go with my concept art. Modelling the mechs didn't take me so much time because it's a kitbash from my previous models.

Pexel.com
While i was browsing the internet i found this free stock photo. A scene from the Avatarmovie came into my mind. The scene where mechs where raiding the natives in the jungle and trying to exterminate all of them for the sake of precious resources. So i went and took my mech model and tweaked it a bit. Took our the arms of the mech and replaced it with guns. I also replaced the head and made it smaller to make it look like a vehicle instead of a standalone mech. I also pulled out my mini robot or i call it scanner bot for an added detail for the whole concept.

I multiplied the mechs and changed some of their pose to create variations. After all the posing i started rendering the passes using Keyshot 6. I rendered the color, reflection, metal and depth passes then overlayed them on top of each other in Photoshop. For an added accuracy i used the stock photo as a background image in keyshot while i re-positioned the mechs for proper camera angle, perspective and lighting. Here's a time-lapse video of the whole process for your convenience. Thank you and enjoy.

The Overwatch

The Overwatch

One of my latest matte painting i did using Zbrush, Keyshot and photoshop. I played Overwatch Beta and i can say it was a very nice game. It reminded of Team Fortress back then. Unfortunately i didn't enjoy playing the game alone especially when you're on the competitive side of gaming. But as a team or playing with friends, it a whole new story. So as a tribute to the game and to my favorite gaming company Blizzard, I made this concept art of a some sort of map concept for the game. So yeah hope you like it and have a great day.
How to improve your Typography with Kerning
I've been a graphic artist for almost 8 years now and i can say that i still lack so many design fundamentals. All of the techniques that i have right now are based on my personal experience and i haven't read or took a related course.

What is Kerning?

In typography, kerning (less commonly mortising) is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result.

Here is an example of how Kerning helps in your typography and making it easier for readers to read.

 Bad Kerning

Good Kerning

Not every font types have the best kerning. Always use manual kernings for it will give you more control. You can access kerning by going into your character panel whether its Photoshop, Corel or any other related softwares.

Here is a website to help you practice : Click Here

Have fun kerning! Cheers!
